US Bank Foundation Funds Portales MainStreet
Portales MainStreet is excited to announce receiving a $2,500 grant from US Bank Foundation. US Bank has continuously supported the organization, specifically the Façade Grant Improvement Program over many years.
According Executive Director Sandy Vigil, this is the third time the funds granted to Portales MainStreet from US Bank Foundation will be used to aid the downtown merchants in updating their store fronts.
“The power of possible has come to Portales through U.S. Banks’ Community Foundation program. We are excited to make this significant contribution to Portales MainStreet. Keeping our communities strong and growing is of great importance to U.S. Bank.”, Travis Tarry, Vice President, Southern & Eastern New Mexico District Manager.
Portales MainStreet has four areas of focus set forth by the Main Street America Organization: Economic Vitality, Design, Organization, and Promotion. The Façade Grant Improvement Program is a continuing program of Portales MainStreet’s Economic Vitality and Design Committee. When funding is available, the organization is able to financially help downtown merchants update their facade through new signage, paint, and more.
According to Vigil, this program is the top initiative of Portales MainStreet in giving back to the downtown merchants. “The importance of having a visually lively downtown cannot be stressed enough. When our downtown is updated and fresh, this captures the attention of travelers passing through. It also attracts the attention of residents who may not have known a certain business existed downtown, or forgot about the wonderful assets we have in our district. The Façade Grant Improvement Program is the only program of Portales MainStreet were we can truly financially help our merchants. To our Board of Directors, this program is one of the best benefits of being a business downtown.”
Veronica Cordova, Branch Manager in Clovis has been a longtime supporter of Portales MainStreet stating “It is always our pleasure to power the potential of organizations such as Portales MainStreet to help our community through growth. We hope that through our giving we help the MainStreet Program and our community fill that need.”
